 About The Artist

Autumn Stroll was painted in 2016, inspired by a cold, crisp autumn walk in Washington D.C. When working on his next painting, Himal spelled out the word park in sign language, recalling back to the park he had visited in D.C. With the aid of his mother, he began to work on “Autumn Stroll”, painting vibrant pink skies to represent his evening walk.

Artist Himal was diagnosed on the autism spectrum at 2. The doctors said that he will need to live in an institution by the age of 5. Although he is 19 now, in most areas he has developed like a 6-year-old. He communicates his basic needs using sign language.

However, thanks to his mother and his teachers, he has learned to paint. He loves painting nature. Painting has been therapeutic for him, it calms him and helps him focus. When he’s not painting, Himal loves solving jigsaw puzzles and spending time with his big brother.

IMPORTANTLY, Recognition of his art by businesses in the area has significantly boosted his self-esteem and has given his parents much needed hope for his future! Zenaviv was started to bring similar hope to other individuals and their families!

Did you know?

At least 20% of kids on the spectrum have special visual and artistic strengths. The unemployment and underemployment rates among these individuals are about 90%. The families are heavily stressed out and tired in life. Among many things, parents often worry what happens after they are no more to care for their child.

At Zenaviv, we passionately believe that the special talents and strengths of autistic people can help make the world a better place, while significantly improving their lives, providing hope for a better future, and changing the way the world perceives autism!
